About two months ago I did my third Ironman, Ironman Lanzarote. It was great experience! Now 8 weeks later I have less than two weeks time to Ironman Tallinn raceday. Ironman Tallinn is quite different race than Lanzarote. I dont expect any easy raceday. I have to take myself out of comfort zone. I have to push it to the limits if I want to finish my fourth full distance triathlon. But Im ready, I have done hundreds of hours hard work during the training season. “The only limit is you”. Yesterday I ran my first official Half Marathon and while my legs knew what to do, my mind tried to convince me several times to quit. The conditions were miserable - at least that’s what my mind told me. Downpouring rain, winds from every possible direction - it was basically just another day in the Midwest. Part of running is the fact that you have to be dedicated, committed and willing to struggle through the process. Don’t let the runners around you influence you in a negative way. Focus on your goal. Follow the plan. Do those hated tempo runs and speed workouts. Get out there even when it’s snowing, raining or 90F+ degrees. Don’t make up excuses because you will regret not getting your workout done. At times, it is going to be hard as hell. At at those moments when it seems impossible, you have to remember that you do have all the skills you need and that the only limit is you. Because the second you cross the finish line and you realize you beat your own goal by almost 12 minutes, you can be proud of pushing yourself beyond your limits.

Yesterday I attempted a run and it just wasn’t happening 😐 I felt completely and utterly knackered In the past I would have got pissed off with myself and pushed on I would have dragged my arse out and I would have hated every moment of it But I have come to realise that running myself into the ground, is not a long-term strategy, so instead, I just had a gentle stroll Resting is not a weakness. Recovery is a necessity, not a luxury I’d much rather listen to my body and take it down a notch, when needed, to help keep my mind and body strong As a result of taking it easy yesterday, getting some water down me, decent food and good sleep, I feel ready to roll today Play the long game 👍🏼

“I developed severe anxiety attacks about two years ago – my heart would race, my chest would tighten, my hands would shake, and I would feel completely out of control. I ignored the lead-up symptoms for almost two years prior to that. I would make excuses like too much coffee, too much sugar, stress, sleep, alcohol, you name it. There was no way that I, a strong woman in control of her own emotions, could have anxiety! My immigrant upbringing instilled shame in asking for help or admitting that I needed mental support. “Us Eastern-European women are strong!” Somewhere along the way, I turned to fitness – at first the gym, then yoga, then CrossFit. The environment built me up physically and then emotionally. They made me realize that strong doesn’t mean invincible. So, I got mental help and somehow along the way, I found myself again. I realized that the best version of me could only be built by tackling my insecurities, by reaching out, admitting I needed help, and throwing around some heavy barbells. I haven’t had an anxiety attack in a couple of months, I have learned my symptoms, and I have learned that I have to battle my problems straight on. Last week, was a shit week! Physically and mentally. I’m happy to say to we all go through this. Me, you, fuck I’d say even @usainbolt has had his bad days! Just here to reassure you, be down, but don’t be out. Accept it for what it is, learn from it and come out the other side stronger. Not saying I’m back to where I want to be, but this #run sure felt good. . . . Also, if you need help, never be afraid to reach out and ask, whoever that may be ✌🏻

You cannot heal in the same environment where you got sick’. . . I talk about this a lot because I think it’s so very true. When we feel rubbish we so often stay still - either through habit, comfort, lack of motivation, or fear - and just hope that at some point we might start to feel better. The waiting game rarely works. . . It might seem too difficult to change your environment, but it doesn’t have to be all at once (it’s not about giving ourselves a mountain to climb). Change one small thing at a time, go slowly if you need to, but just start. . . Little changes make a big impact...less alcohol & more water, more rainbow food & less junk, more exercise & more sleep, less time with toxic people & more time with people who make you happy, learning to breathe better, practicing mindfulness, trying meditation....the list of possibilities is endless really. . . Although they might feel like nothing at the time, the small things add up. A few weeks or months down the line you’ll look back and realise your environment is completely different to when you started. You may have started to feel a whole lot better, you may have started to heal 🌤 . . #makethechange #smallthings #selflove

Ive shared this transformation picture before. Anyone who has followed my journey over the last couple years may have seen this. . . Im sharing again because I hope to inspire someone to believe in themselves. . The ME THEN was insecure, unhappy, hated being in her skin, and was super self-conscious. . The ME NOW - - totally different person. Complete opposite of who I used to be. . And the downright truth yall is that I put some focus on ME. I woke 30 minutes earlier to do a home workout while everyone was still asleep. So my ME time did not interfere with my family time. Together with my family, we spent a few hours on Sundays preparing and prepping foods for the week so that our breakfasts, lunches and dinners were in order and/or ready to go. The time spent on Sunday eliminated after work dinner stress and put money back in our pockets because we stopped eating out 4-5x/week. These simple changes created huge change!!! Positive change that today is priceless! . Friends, I want you to know that you ARE worth giving yourself 30 minutes a day. That you can create change in the space and time you currently have. That you dont have to spend tons of money to become the healthy and fit person you want to be. I want you to know THAT YOU ARE WORTH IT. . I have a group starting tomorrow and still have spots open.
