💪🏻 STRENGTH 💪🏻 . The word can have many meanings. I’m sure everyone’s initial thought is physical strength-the ability to lift heavy things. Physical strength takes an extreme amount of effort and is acquired over a long period of time. It’s a combination of fueling your body and lifting heavy🏋🏼‍♀️ . Something that doesn’t get the same amount of attention is mental strength. Not everyone puts in the time and effort to improve themselves in this aspect- and honestly, this may be the most important form of strength. Mental health allows someone to cope with difficult life issues, face adversity, and better themselves in a way that they could not achieve otherwise. . Are you putting in the effort to improve your mental strength? Do you even know how to start doing this? I am no expert on this topic but I know when to recruit help-whether that be professionals or just others whom I value their opinion. So I got to the gym a few hours earlier than normal and man did I get some looks from the regulars at the time wondering who the hell I was. Kinda funny, not gonna lie haha. Anyways, I got in a fantastic leg workout. I did an OG Blood Volume leg day, which I use to do religiously in my first prep, and man did I forget how much that workout actually hurts and the burn from it. I was struggling to walk around in between sets and man oh man am I gonna be hurting later, I can just tell. It felt great to get to the gym earlier and get some errands done afterwards. Happy Monday 💗 I love to share this periodically especially because I have gained some new followers lately – below are some fun random facts about me that you might not know: 1. I LOVE SPORTS – I would love to be a sports broadcaster … Denver Broncos, and many other football teams I have respect for, Flyers, Phillies and Sixers. I love college football and basketball as well with no specific favorite team. I grew up playing every single sport and actually am not great – haha … that is why I decided to be a runner because my coordination is embarrassing. If I had to pick one sport I was really good at it would be basketball… 3 pointers were my ish. 2. I love to cook – I know most of you see my food posts so that is obvious, but I actually almost went to cooking school right out of college. I changed my mind just so I could get a solid four years of under grad, but who knows – you might see me on chopped one day. 3. My boyfriend has a daughter, Mackenzie who is truly the most incredible little girl in the world. Her mom and dad have raised her to be independent and strong and I love being a part of her life. Kenz has warmed my heart from so many different angles and I can truly say I love her more than I have ever loved anything. I want to be whatever she wants me to be and we leave it at that. For now – I am there for her if she needs anything. 4. I genuinely love helping people – for no cost. One thing I do well is listen so people tend to tell me more than they planned on telling and for that I give them advice and let them vent. I have heard it all – at least most of it and I am willing to provide any insights back to you. 5. I love learning. I have my master’s degree and still want more… I feel like there is opportunity daily to continue to learn – so I read and I write and I ask and I look and crave more…. As should you. I am just your ordinary Jersey girl who decided to share a lot of who she is on the internet … in the hopes that some people will hear my story at the time they need to hear it and reach out if they need help. A little #MondayMotivation for myself. . Tomorrow is our “day 1” of the 1st Phorm warehouse transformation challenge, and my goal is look like me on the right side by the end of the 8 weeks. . This was my transformation in the beginning of 2018 when I was cutting for a fight. I would say now, I look more like the guy on the left. I’ve spoke about this in previous posts, but people fall off track(myself included). . My goal for the next 8 weeks is to form better habits, hit the gym hard, and CONSISTENTLY diet. It’s going to come down to who’s putting in the work and being consistent. I just want to be a beast by the end of these next 8 weeks. . Last week I was in Charleston and it was 80 degree weather and sunny, this week I’m back to reality. Nothing like sliding into the work week starting it off right with a good workout, I made sure that workout didn’t go to waste by consuming the best post workout stack possible ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 🔥⁣ If you want fitness results read⁣ ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⁣ ⁣ ⁣ •Take a proper post workout. If you’re only consuming protein following your workout you’re missing out on the best results possible.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ •When we eat carbs our body stores the carbs in our muscle as glycogen. This glycogen is stored to be converted to ATP as our body needs the energy (working out etc). During your workout your body uses a lot of that stored glycogen. The body is designed to replenish that energy source (glycogen) immediately post workout.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ •Basically if you’re only using protein following your workout then that protein is not going to to repair muscles or build them up because the body is taking it and storing it as glycogen to refill what was just used. I went to the gym this morning while it was raining, windy, and dropped 30 degrees from yesterday. I forgot my watch, pre-workout, water, Post-workout, gym tag.... headphones... then the sauna was out of order!!!! I was driving the HOT MESS EXPRESS this morning for sure. . . With all these things going on, I pushed through and just got it over with. Sometimes, you may feel like everything is going against you. Depression is something I hide quite easily from people... if you ask someone who knows me I probably seem like a quite sociable guy. But in my head i’m battling everyday. There’s a lot of factors that have come into play of such over the years that you can’t specifically pin point a reason for the feeling. “Fight Like Hell.” Is a quote i’ve lived by for quite some time now, fuck i even have it tattooed on my wrist... cause even at your lowest you have to fight. And this is why I powerlift, this is my motivation. There’s no greater feeling than moving heavy shit. Every damn day, Fight like hell... not to be better than others, not to be the biggest baddest person in the world... but fight like hell to be better than yourself. And empowering others to do the same... wether it’s moving heavy shit, or running as fast as you can, or climbing the tallest mountains... be the best you can fucking be at whatever you’re doing... because fuck being average... If you ever need a shoulder to lean on, never hesitate to hmu... i’m always on my phone anyways... you’re not the only one struggling. And i’m not afraid to say I am too. Man ole man I cant wait to be able to start training again.. Its crazy how quick life can happen and in the matter of seconds your life can be altered by crazy unsuspecting ways. In my case all it took was having my hand wrapped in a rope while trying to securely catch a horse.. I put the rope around the horses neck, went to put the halter on with my right hand, the horse freaked out, started raring up/backing up really fast, and in turn smashed my left hand in the rope.. It had caused a bunch of soft tissue damage, and my ring finger broke from the pressure of my hand being smashed.. One whole month of no training, and I cant even do my job either because I need both working hands to preform successfully, so its been a rough one. Only a week and a few days till I can take this damn splint off then its rubber band and stress ball exercises! The point of this story is not for you guys to feel bad for me but instead to show everyone that shit happens. When the shit does happen it usually happens quickly, so the best thing to do is be prepared for anything. Plan for the worst but hope for the best. Dont let the bad misfortunate events destroy you because often the bad things that happen in your life is honestly what MAKES YOU! Keep your eye on the light at the end of tunnel, and dont find yourself lost in the darkness. Two things that are very important to me and why... 1. #reading 2.body movement . . After a morning of soaking in a hot tub, a LOT of stretching, some Flexall and a few Aspirin my body had loosened up enough to go get them #duespaid. My Bilateral CVT had my foot, knees & hips hurting worse than it has in a long time. . . Had I not remembered a part of @attackathletics book RELENTLESS todays challenges would have been much more challenging. I had to go to my dark side and work through the mental challenges that the physical pain was causing. (Take the day off, you should just rest) Well, that wouldnt of taken any of the pain away. . . By tapping into what the book RELENTLESS talks about our dark side I found that part of me who didnt care about physical pain, that part of me that only cared about the results, would I go move my body or let this condition win the day? So glad I chose to move my body. . . I also thought about the decal I wear on my #prostheticleg that says #iam1stphorm... that decal means so much more to me than just dressing up my leg. It represents people all over the world who are striving to be their best and change the world around them for the better. An the more I thought about my #phamily the more I was motivated to beat todays physical pain with movement. . . 🔔 Lunch Hack & Story Time 🔔 • Today I drove 30 minuets to go to one of my favorite stores to grocery shop. Come to find out it is closed for remolding. - So plan B, drive another 20 minuets to another ALDIs - While shopping I became hungry and it was time to eat by this time I should of already been back home but shit happens. - So I bought a pre-made salad and some additional already cooked chicken strips to add more protein to the salad. Used half of the dressing and there you have it. - A healthy choice for lunch and I maybe spend $6. And still have left over chicken strips that I can use for the rest of the week. - Being unprepared could of been worse but it’s how you handle yourself thru these times is what courts the most.

Words can’t even explain how aggravating today was. Felt good going in, but weight didn’t seem to move. Couldn’t hit 465 which I’ve hit my last 3 sessions, damn sure couldn’t get to 5 plates today. Disappointing to say the least. Anyways, meet time in 13 days, last heavy day. We know what we’re capable of so I guess we’ll roll with that. I like to leave at least one workout out of the week to just have fun with new exercises and stay mobile. I had so much fun with this kettlebell circuit and recommend it to anyone who might be hesitant (but curious) to give them a try! . Workout was only 40 minutes including warm-up and cool down/stretching: warm-up included hip lifts, side lunges, alternating knee hugs, open hip lunge stretch, karaokes, and A-skips (20 each or until you feel limber and ready to go!) . Beginning circuit - laterall shuffle with burpee + kettlebell swings (one arm and both), reverse lunge with overhead press 3*20. Deadlift to goblet squat (10), Goblet squats (20), split squats (20 at 52lbs, 15 at ~62), some lat contractions (inspiration from @sciaccia) with light weight to get familiar and practice my form. .
