Don’t forget your rear deltoids and scapular work. - - This is the one area most men and women seem to forget to work and for most it’s not even on their radar. Shoulder presses and side lateral raises are of course a must but what about the rear? Most people I meet and coach have underdeveloped rear deits and don’t realise until I explain to them the importance training this area. Developing the rear deltoids and scapular - upper middle back will not only help pull your shoulders back and give you a better improved posture it will also help the shoulders look so much better and shapely from the side. - - If your shoulders look a little like they are dropping forward when standing and looking side on then try adding some rear work into your workouts and you will start to see an improvement in your posture and appearance over the course of a few months . I’m taking my client here through a set of (uni-lateral) one armed bent over raises. I choose the uni-lateral work as I find it to be far more isolating and more focused. You can do these with Dumbbells or kettlebells. Make sure the weight is not too heavy and your rep range can meet about 12-15 Reps . This can of course be varied and heavier weights can be included once you get stronger.

There was a time when I’d avoid any kind of resistance exercise or weights because I didn’t want to get big or bulky - I was a cardio girl. But then I used to wonder why I’d spend hours on the treadmill and cross trainer each week and see no results or progress 🤷🏾‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ * Once I got clued up and last that madness and incorporated weights into my workouts, the results were immense! I have a love/hate relationship with home workouts. Part of the appeal of going to a gym is getting AWAY from your home and from a toddler that likes to dive headfirst onto YOUR FACE. However, sometimes you aren’t able to get away, especially if you are a single parent. Try and work towards accepting where you are at and starting where you are. “All-or-nothing” thinking just leads to either anxiety and/or guilt. It feels pretty amazing when I see I can fit in my old clothes again 😍🤩 For the past 3 weeks I exercised for at least 30min/day, I ate more vegetables and fruits, and I’m pretty happy with what I achieved during these 3 weeks. Let me tell you something, it was not easy to keep my self accountable everyday. But I knew I need to push through my limits everyday to get a little closer to my fitness goal. And now only after 3 weeks I can see that I’m healthier, happier, stronger, and I lost a reasonable amount of weight and dropped a size. So I’m going to push even harder everyday to get closer to my fitness goal 💪🏻 . . . Between minute one and minute done is what defines you. Not the scale, not the cellulite you see when you take the pictures and certainly not anyone’s opinions. . Old me— “Ew, look at that cellulite. This is not going ANYWHERE.” Today’s A— “Who f*cking cares, you wanna call me fat/put me down, well shit. . What Sally says about Susie says way more about Sally than it does about Susie. Therefore- I’m already above you. And also, wait, did you get up of your couch today, did you tell yourself one positive thing or nah? LOL I work too damn hard to let you or myself put me down. So I WONT.” . Basically, if you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. It is your duty to not let anyone rob you of the journey that YOU are on. . Love your body for its health and for all that it can do. Celebrate the days you are privileged to challenge your mind and body before the days come where you wish you had. We can’t get back yesterday, we cannot tackle tomorrow, but we can absolutely create our future with each day we are given. It has become my job to help make a difference, to not only help ladies find their long lost abs or to lose a couple lbs but most importantly to find their worth and their truest potential; so, I’ll be damned if I’m not vulnerable - it’s exactly what got me here.
