#relaxin #dothemahigetthetreats I decided a week ago when I couldnt run for shit down Main South I needed to start doing more short runs outside at whatever time Im free three days a week with a longer run once a week. I have to practice the longer run but my body needs to get used to running outside consistently again and ive conditioned it to run at the gym which isnt the same as running on tough terrain. I enjoy running outside but ever since I came to a colder part of the country I began making excuses. Its too cold. Its raining. Its too windy the air is more polluted here. Ill do it when its nice out. Its easier to run at the gym because it doesnt matter what the weather is like. These excuses didnt help me and wont help you. If youre looking for a challenge, you wont find it in ONE place. You wont find it with ONE routine. Is the fear of failure keeping you from starting?⠀ ✨⠀ Ive been struggling to get started again in the gym after taking a break from powerlifting so I decided to take a cold hard look at what was holding me back. I had all the plans, the general motivation and the excitement to get started but every morning rolled around and I was still off the wagon.⠀ ✨⠀ I realized that I was deathly afraid of failing. What if I didnt look like I used to? What if I dont lose the weight? What if I dont get any happier? What if I start and then I dont follow through? What if I dont look like the other trainers and coaches out there? What if my body isnt “good enough”? What if I FAIL?⠀ ✨⠀ The problem with allowing that fear to take over is that you never get to find out what COULD happen. Maybe I wont look like I used to, Ill look better. What if I dont lose the weight but my muscles are poppin and my booty is juicy? What if I dont need to look like the other trainers and coaches in order to tell my story? What if accepting my body helps you relate and accept your body?⠀ ✨⠀ Fear creates a self-fulfilling prophecy: youre afraid youll fail and so you fail. Id rather you give yourself the chance to completely fuck up rather than not try at all. And heads up, you might fail, you probably will at something at some point. But you get to keep pushing forward and use that time to grow and get better so the next time theres no question and you conquer it. ⠀ ✨⠀ Whats holding you back? I was recently singled out in my yoga teacher training class as possibly teaching with a bit too much power. It’s bothered me all week. Until I just caught myself happily surfing the internet for more strength and power moves to pass onto my clients. It dawned on me just then that I love power. I love being strong. And I don’t judge anyone who isn’t like me. Can’t yogis be strong, powerful AND mindful???? Does yoga really have to be such an elitist movement? I constantly thought I needed to get smaller. I was scared of any food that wasnt clean and this overwhelm consumed me.🍎 . The second image was yesterday. I have spent years now lifting heavy weights and doing minimal cardio. I have spent years learning how to eat in a way that I love and that fuels my goals. I have spent years learning about what REALLY works and what doesnt.🎯 . I have even spent time not going to the gym at all and eating whatever I wanted. 🍦 I didnt die. I wish I could tell my 20 year old self that! She would have laughed in my face if I told her I was happier 10kg heavier. 😂 . I can confidently say I absolutely love the way I train and the way I eat! This lifestyle is no longer a chore to me.😍 . The difference here is choice. The difference is freedom and knowledge. The difference is in the fact that I know I am worthy no matter what weight or size I am. 🙌 . With many injuries, especially longstanding or nagging ones, it’s crucial to train at a volume and/or intensity just below that which provokes symptoms (right, @quinn.henochdpt?) . 🍤 It’s not uncommon for athletes to get to a point in rehab where they have no symptoms with lifting or even running, but cutting and jumping are still problematic. Low to medium intensity single leg plyometrics are a great way to build tissue tolerance. Note that as the athlete progresses into more practice/scrimmaging, etc, that will replace these drills. (h/t @strengthcoachtherapy) . 🍣 The first drill addresses lateral movement, which a key component of many sports and one that is often neglected in traditional rehab settings. . 🍛In the second drill, you’ll notice I’m purposely landing with my whole foot (vs hopping off my toes); this is to put more force through the patellar tendon. . 🥟The final drill is one of my favorites for introducing impact and deceleration. In my opinion, this is a great precursor to running and cutting. . 🍱 Dosage: start with about 40 foot contacts per side. So, 3 sets of 4-5 reps each side is a good starting point. The third exercise is the lowest intensity, so athletes can usually handle more volume here. Make sure there is adequate rest between sets, especially initially.

Finished 8/9 with 2 PRs and I couldn’t be happier! Bench didn’t go as expected, failed my final bench at 110lbs so ended up with a 99lb Bench :/ Squat PR was 192.9lbs and Deadlift PR was 237lbs! So damn happy! All while cutting, cut down to 152 from 170. Hellooooooo😬 first post in a hot minute.... packed up the ol’ Honda, 3 months ago, and moved me and the feline to Denver! Aaaaaaaaand immediately turned into a depressed hermit. I LOVE STRESSSSS🕺🏻😭🔥😭🤮🕺🏻🤮☠️ so many things...A New and long distance relationship that jumped a million levels overnight... a new city, moving into and sharing someone else’s space, job hunting, new job(s), incredible financial 😭🤮💩😭fuuuuuuuuucking aaaaaallllllll the hopes and fears galore. Finally finished the South Boulder Peak hike! 8.5 miles, 3100 elevation gain. Crazy hard, but awesome. Definitely recommend it others! Feeling happy to have spent some quality time with the boy. 😊❤

Fitness wasnt something that came naturally to me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My fitness journey only began last July and it stemmed from years of feeling down about myself and insecure. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I spent most of my life extremely over weight and was a whopping 196lbs by the time I was 16. I was constantly putting myself down and absolutely hated the way I looked. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was bullied badly by guys in school and because of it never went to gym class. I was called fat, ginger and was even called a man for a very long time. Because of this I was extremely hard on myself and blamed the fact I could never get a boyfriend on my weight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fast forward a few years and all the self hate had built up so much that I decided to lose weight but did it the completely wrong way. I lost all the weight but was still in a very dark place as I had developed an eating disorder and because of it had an extremely bad relationship with food. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My loved ones were so worried that they quite literally fattened me up 😂 I went from 108 lbs to 135 lbs and sat there for the last 2 years of university but the problem was I was still unhappy and self loathing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With a holiday to Barcelona on the horizon after graduation I decided if I was gonna be on a beach I was going to feel happy and look good! So I began putting my science degree to good use and researched for countless hours how to get in shape the healthy way and it was the best thing I have done! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am now so much more confident and have honestly fallen in love with the way working out has made me look and also feel. I am strong inside and out and it honestly the best feeling in the world.
