Going to pop the question and unsure about what style of ring to get , the perfect solution is this beautiful commitment ring . I give you my heart is the sentiment behind the ring . The heart is made from 9ct gold and the band is made from sterling silver .

Remodeling a piece of jewellery which holds such an emotional bond with a person is an honor and a privilege. That the client has faith in your ability to transform the jewellery into something wearable . I liked that all of the original ring was reused and the sentiment of togetherness continues in the combined hearts. Health to wear!!

A little something for the weekend . This a recent engagement commission , diamond and 18ct gold . I love that the ring is so simple in design but yet so beautifully delicate and dainty. Health to wear and many happy years to you both .

Hot off the bench this morning , The harp was presented to Trinity college in 1782. The harp is the official emblem of Ireland and it is unique to have a musical instrument used as a symbol to represent a country.

Day 2- Doolin to Dingle. First stop Adare to catch up with stockists, then a short trip down the road to Newcastle West and call in with Kevin in Cowpers Jewellers ( display looking good) . Then a longer drive through the beautiful country side of County Kerry to the home of Fungi and The Dingle Goldsmith’s. I felt after all that driving and talking to all my customers I was thinking it’s time I went to #dickmacks Dingle for a pint of their Amber Ale which is brewed in house.

Day one of my road trip visiting all the shops that stock my work. Called into two Kilkenny stores in Galway and Ennis and I have to say it was a pleasure meeting all the girls in the stores, if your close by please call in and have a look at the display of work.

Hot off the bench today , two shining stars . Each day brings something new !!

Just finished this pendant today which was made from much loved jewellery that was a little bit dated, breathing new life into something old. The hare jumping through the circle represents the family name O’Hare which I thought was a lovely idea of my client. Health to Wear !

Absolutely over the moon with my new @garrettmallonjewellery piece my parents surprised me with. Ive been raving about his jewellery for a long time. It reminds me of the bronze age lunulae in the National Museum. #garrettmallonjewellery #irisharchaeology #carlingforddesignhouse #irishcraft

Happy St Patrick’s day !!! Hope the sun shines on your parade. Come all IRELAND #grandslam

Delighted to announce that #garrettmallonjewellery is now available in Kilkenny stores in Galway and Ennis . Looking forward to getting over to the west to meet all the staff in both stores!

Day11 #marchmeetthemaker Branding. Here’s are boxes and bags at the moment and with having our own shop we have different branding for it also. We’ve tried to have very clean lines with a modern feel over the whole brand.

Day 10. Time to Relax. #marchmeetthemaker . When I get the chance I like to spend time in the sea , especially in #donegal

Day 5. #marchmeetthemaker Photography: It is very hard to get that perfect shot that captures the colours in the metal and stones . I have two very good photographers at the moment and these are samples of their work. A lot of the images on my Instagram page are taken from my phone , as I don’t have time to get them shot before the client arrives. I’m sure you can pick out the ones I’ve taken but they are perfect for social media. #wearingirish

#marchmeetthemaker Day 4 Favorite to make : A favorite piece of Jewellery is a hard one to call , while making bespoke pieces they all have something emotional attached to them between myself and clients . But if I was pushed to pick, it would have to be The Cloicin Torc pendant as it was one of my earliest pieces but has lasted the test of time. It’s inspired by the stony shores of Carlingford Lough where I live today.

#marchmeetthemaker day 3 .Where I started. On leaving school and not having a clue what I wanted to do, I joined the BeechValley Training Centre. The youth training centre had many sections in it car mechanics, upholstery, woodwork and many more , and Jewellery. I tried all of them and Jewellery was the last one i had a go at. It became obvious straight away that I liked it and had a flare for it. It did help quite a lot that I had a great teacher in Jim Lee , his style of teaching give you inspiration to stretch the mind and it was a joy to be in his class. In the image dated summer of 1985 you have Jim in the middle and myself and Pauline Elliot (rip).

I’ve decided to take part in #marchmeetthemaker a day late but better late than never. Hello !! My name is Garrett originally from #dungannon , 13 years in Dublin and now living in #omeath #countylouth . I will be turning the big 5 0. this year but still feel that I’m in my twenties. I’m married to my best friend Sarah for nearly a quarter of a century and we have 3 wonderful kids 20,17, and 15 who keep us young and on our toes . I have been making Jewellery since 1985 , starting in a YTP scheme Dungannon, then Sir John Cass School of Arts London, moved to Dublin in 1987 and worked in a Jewellery manufacturing company until 2000 . I then moved to #Louth and start making my own collections of Jewellery. In 2014 I moved into my new shop and workshop in #carlingford called #carlingforddesignhouse where I am today . So that’s got the ball rolling and given you a brief insight into my world . Over the next month I hope to share lots a different aspects of my life , not all work as I don’t want to bore you completely. The image is a before and after picture , many years a making.

Its snowing all over the UK but I seems we are in a little bubble......for now... loving these spring colours from @garrettmallonjewellery Hope they brighten up your day where ever you are. #garrettmallonjewellery #robinsongoldsmiths #shophandmade #irish #ireland #shoplocal #handmadejewellery #irishgoldsmith
