I’ve had a couple of lower back injuries in the past. All incidental, rather than just popping unexpectedly. Usually doing something I shouldn’t 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️ But what was important to acknowledge was the symptoms leading to the injury in the first place In my case - tight hip flexors and weak hamstrings lead to me straining my Quadratus Lumborum muscle (aka QL - and sounds a lot like a Harry Potter spell) 🤓🧞‍♂️ Unfortunately fixing this problem cannot be achieved with magic This video addresses strengthening my hamstrings and chicken legs 🍗 💪🏻🎋 A Snatch (wide) Grip Deadlift with a slow eccentric phase (as the bar lowers), strongly engages the lats and loads the hamstrings In this case, going slow before going heavy is the ticket 🤙🤙 #lesmills #lesmillstakapuna #deadlifts #chickenlegs #tortoise #alwayswins

Tip: to grow the Glutes you need to be able to activate it throughout your leg day, plus other factors like consuming enough calories, hitting your protein intake, and not doing too much cardio. If you can’t feel your glutes throughout any leg exercises spend some time prior with activation exercises like single leg hip thrust. Been a while since I’ve posted anything so here’s some deadlifts! This was actually the first time I’ve done a sumo stance in ages as I strained my left glute. I hit 150kg for a set of 5 then 3x3. This is a movement I want to get so much more efficient with. Trying to finish the movement off with my hips instead of my back. If anyone is interested I’m around 5-6kg down on my cut (84kg ➡️ 78-79kg)and I’ve decided I’m going to do a powerlifting meet at the end of the year in the 74kg weight class. Heres a little snippet from my training this past weekend. . Ive recently been working on form, which inevitably will include #depth work for squats. However, Ive also always had an issue getting my glutes to fire while squatting, so this weekend I performed the majority of my lifts with a large #hipband in order to maintain my glute activation throughout the lift - and man did it work!! My #glutes were on FIRE for a day and a half after my squat sesh. . Sets are 445, 445, 425, 385, 385 for my final sets of 5 reps each (I dropped down to 315 for a burnout set of 15 reps last, before moving into accessory moves). . When youre squatting with a hip band, focus on keeping your knees pushed out throughout the entire range of motion. Hey everyone, my name is Ashley. I’m here to share my story with all of you! My journey began in 2015, I was 140 lbs at my heaviest. I never took the gym serious and I ate whatever I wanted (obsessively). I wasn’t happy with how I looked or felt, so I decided to change everything. I started weighing my food, drinks, and body weight every single day. I was restricting my calories to only 1,200 and mid 2018 I dropped all the way down to 118! My friends and family began to worry because I was eating like a bird and wanted to continue to lose weight. My boyfriend helped me learn my way around the gym and reminded me that food is fuel. I began to slowly gain my weight back in muscle and now, I am a healthy 130 and happier than ever. I remind myself every day that the number on the scale doesn’t matter, it’s how I feel that truly has importance. I learned so much from 2016-2018. Earlier this year I became a certified personal trainer and took a nutrition course to further my education. My mental and physical growth is something I will forever be proud of.
