Photo by @BrianSkerry A large tiger shark with two hooks in its mouth swims over a shallow water sand flats in the northern Bahamas. Tiger sharks are an apex predator species in tropical waters though much of their lives have remained a mystery until recently. Researchers are now learning about behaviors and migratory patterns that are beginning to fill in the puzzle of their life cycle. Despite being large predators, life in the ocean is difficult and they face many challenges to survive. And as with all species, the tiger shark faces declining populations worldwide as the demand for shark fins continues. Having photographed sharks in locations worldwide, it is quite common these days to see sharks with hooks. #sharks #tigersharks #bahamas #predators #nature To see more wildlife photos and read the stories behind them follow @BrianSkerry #sharks #tigershark #bahamas #predator
